We need to elect a Sheriff in Talbot County on Sept 12th, is George Ball the preferred choice?
From what we hear, It seems that the Bay Hundred area of the county heavily favors Ball.

Come out and meet Mr. Ball at a Bay Hundred “Meet and Greet” Sept 6, at 5:30 Pm- Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Ball will outline his agenda as well as introduce his potential Chief Deputy Frank Ford.
On Sept 12,2006 there will be the primary elections here in Talbot County for local as well as State elected officials. Mr. Ball and Mr. Pope both being republicans, with no democratic candidate running will be decided on this date rather than the November 7th election day. Remember to get out and vote, but you may only vote within your registered party. We have heard of a good deal of democratic voters withdrawing their names and re-registering under a republican affiliation to support Mr. Ball.
Here is some information on Mr. Ball; we received in a recent interview:
George N. Ball, Jr., 49, of Easton, is a Republican Candidate for Talbot County Sheriff. He was born and raised in Talbot County, and has lived in Talbot County his entire life. Ball has been involved with Law Enforcement since graduating from Easton High School in June, 1974.
Ball is running for Sheriff in order to fulfill a long time goal to eventually retire from Law Enforcement in a position to give back to the community, and best serve the citizens of Talbot County. He was strongly encouraged by members of various Law Enforcement and Public Safety Agencies; the business community; and numerous residents of the County to file this year for the Office of Sheriff.
It is his goal, which if elected, he will accomplish to reestablish a stabilized workforce; restore moral; have a truly cooperative working relationship with all allied Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Public Service Agencies; and to work with the various business and community organizations to better serve the citizens of Talbot County.
Ball states that good morale is essential to any organization, as your employees are your number one asset. When you have good morale, you have excellent employees, with a stabilized workforce, that are happy to come to work do their job to properly serve the citizens. He said that his greatest strengths when he was the Maryland Natural Resources Police area commander for the Upper Eastern Region, was cooperation between NRP and all allied agencies; and that he had the highest producing and happiest employees in the State.
Ball will work with the administrations of the Easton, St. Michaels and Oxford Police Departments to establish compatible policy and procedures. This is needed in order to have Deputy’s and Officer’s working together, under the same policy and procedures, to best serve all citizens of Talbot County. The TCSO, EPD, SMPD and OPD only have a combined authorized total strength of 83 Deputy’s/Officer’s. It is imperative, for Officer safety and service to the approximately 34,000 citizens and unknown number of visitors, for these agencies to work together on a regular basis. The MD State Police and MD Natural Resources Police, which are both strong allies of the Sheriff’s Office and the municipal Police Departments, operate under large State Agencies with different missions and their own personnel shortages.
With all the little villages and towns that don’t have their own Police Departments in the County, and all areas in between, the Sheriff’s Office has to aggressively patrol these areas and respond to citizens complaints and concerns.
