After two years of postponing this event, expect a huge amount of people participating this year.
(AP) ANNAPOLIS, Md – Tens of thousands of people are expected to take a stroll Sunday during this year’s Chesapeake Bay Bridge Walk.
The eastbound span will be closed from midnight Sunday morning until 7 p-m and the westbound span will be used for two-way traffic.
The walk starts at 9 a-m, one hour after the start of the 10-K Governor’s Bay Bridge Run.
The walk has been an annual event since 1975 but was canceled last year for bridge repairs.
This year’s walk will coincide with the restart of the Volvo Ocean Race. The yachts are expected to be visible south of the bridge as they leave Annapolis en route to New York.
For security reasons, walkers won’t be allowed to carry backpacks and only see-through diaper bags will be permitted.
